Distributing Updated MDM Profiles

Overview

Distributing managed apps with Jamf Pro requires mobile devices with iOS 5 or later and an MDM profile that supports managed apps. When devices with iOS 5 or later are enrolled with Jamf Pro, they automatically obtain an MDM profile that supports managed apps. Managed iOS 4 devices that are upgraded to iOS 5 or later do not obtain this profile.

To update the MDM profile on these devices, you must update the Self Service Web Clip settings in Jamf Pro. Jamf Pro distributes an updated MDM profile to the Self Service web clip. When users install the profile, the device can support managed apps.

This article explains how to distribute an updated MDM profile in the Self Service web clip.

Note: Mobile devices that were enrolled using an enrollment profile cannot obtain an updated MDM profile via the Self Service web clip.
