Redoing VPP Registration for an Unintended Apple ID

This article explains how to redo the VPP registration for a user that registered with VPP  using an unintended Apple ID. This process temporarily revokes the apps assigned to the user and then reassigns the apps after the user accepts the new VPP invitation. Depending on your environment, this process may take awhile.

Note: eBooks assigned to the user remain associated with the unintended Apple ID.

Versions Affected

Casper Suite v9.7 or later

  1. Log in to the JSS with a web browser.
  2. Click Users at the top of the page.
  3. Perform a simple or advanced user search. For more information, see the Casper Suite Administrator’s Guide.
  4. Click the user you want to redo the VPP registration for.
  5. Click Redo VPP Registration, and then click Redo VPP Registration again.

A new VPP invitation is sent to the user.

Is it possible to do Redo VPP Registration in bulk? Got a smart/static group in which I'd like to perform this on but the only bulk options I get are delete users and change site.

I also urgently need to redo vpp registrations in bulk. We are moving to Managed Apple IDs and I have 1500 students to redo... Manual is not an option!
