I would love to see the metrics and information collected by the hundreds of Apple Genius Bars around the world. Their protocol is to create a ticket for every instance and case that walks in the door. A deep dive into those numbers would be an amazing view of the state of the Mac universe.

I'm quite sure that a growing percentage of the visits by ordinary Mac users to the Genius Bar have been to help with Adware removal. And, as such, it makes sense then for Apple to start to target some of the worst offenders with their XProtect mechanism. The more aggressive Apple gets with this, the better we'll all be. As I've said before, any business model that relies on a user being tricked into installing software onto their computer is not welcome in my environment and I will continue to use every tool at my disposal, including user education, to battle the scam artists and scum bags who distribute this kind of crapware.
