Anyone know what might be causing this error, only noticed it today while building a policy in our LAB.

  • Jamf Pro 9.101.4
  • macOS High Sierra 10.13.2
  • Macbook Air

Hostname masked, using LAB-test01 for this post.

# tail -f /var/log/jamf.log
    "/usr/sbin/diskutil",
    list
)

    "/bin/launchctl",

)
Sat Dec 23 15:59:35 LAB-test01 jamf[15555]: Error running recon: *** -[NSConcreteTask terminationStatus]: task not launched

The computer doesn't have any daemon of the sort installed:

# ls -l /Library/LaunchAgents/com.jamfsoftware*
-rw-r--r--  1 root  wheel  691 Dec 22 10:14 /Library/LaunchAgents/com.jamfsoftware.jamf.agent.plist
# ls -l /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.jamfsoftware*
-rw-r--r--  1 root  wheel  868 Dec 22 10:14 /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.jamfsoftware.jamf.daemon.plist
-rwxr--r--  1 root  wheel  474 Dec 22 10:14 /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.jamfsoftware.startupItem.plist
-rw-r--r--  1 root  admin  538 Dec 22 10:14 /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.jamfsoftware.task.1.plist

I looked through Policy History for the LAB-test01, didn't see anything running at that time.

I ran a recon manually to see if I could invoke it again, nada....

Probably nothing to worry about, but figured I'd post here to see if this is something anyone has seen before.

At the very least we want to document it for our techs so they know what it means if they ever see it in the jamf.log.
