/var/log log files gone after upgrading to High Sierra

Has anyone noticed this?
Log files that were present in 10.11 in /var/log are no longer there in 10.13 after upgrade.
install.log and jamf.log seem to also have been wiped (although have returned after 10.13 boots up).

Expected? Backed up anywhere?
