Ours seems to be working fine. It is important to make sure that the versions actually match, Microsoft does not always release an update so that the MAU will update itself. I have seen stations running the latest version of Outlook but an old version of the MAU because MAU does not see the update for itself. The latest installer for Outlook may or may not also have the latest version of MAU. Microsoft has not been consistent with this recently.
It is also important to remember that it can take a few hours before patch management realizes that a station has been updates, even if you include the inventory update.
We just start it and wait a day to see our progress.
