Users being forced to change AD Password

I am hoping someone might be able assist with a strange issue we are having with AD Bound computers (10.12.6)

We are a University and have recently started our first semester and a small but significant number of students, both New and Returning are being prompted to reset their passwords on initial log in to a Mac? Most of the time, the users can successfully reset their PW at the Mac login screen but many are failing. If they then go to our password reset tool via a web browser and reset the PW there, they can then log in to the Mac and are not prompted again.

There is nothing in the AD record that indicates the password is flagged for reset and if the the user logs into a Windows computer the account works fine but will still be prompted for a reset on Mac.

I wonder if any other JAMF Pro users are experiencing something similar?
