JSS Server Upgrade

Hey Guys,

I want to get ready for the upcoming Beta release on Casper Suite and one of the requirements is to have the server on 10.7 or later. Our current environment is on 10.6 (both Test and Prod), I went ahead and upgraded test to 10.8 but I'm sure i didn't follow the right procedures as mysql seems to be broken now and keep getting an error when trying to connect through socket var/mysq/mysql.sock
I may have to wipe this server out and start fresh but would like to have the right procedures to accomplish this. going from 10.6 to 10.8

Thank you

We would want to stick to OS X Server Vn 10.6.8, since we use that version Virtualised to run Casper.

Hi

One thing to note when upgrading server OS's from 10.6 to 10.7 or 10.8, is that MySQL is no longer Native to the OS. So we will need to run the MySQL installer once upgraded, then recreate the database and restore from backup.

@Fink Yep, unfortunately MySQL 5.6 causes some problems, if I were JAMF, I'd update the JAMF article with "Avoid MySQL 5.6 like the plague".
