NOTE LAST MINUTE ROOM CHANGE: Minnetonka, 4th floor
Join the developers of Pixar's open-source tools ruby-jss, Chook, and d3 for (byo) drinks, chat, & demos.
ruby-jss is an 'SDK' that greatly simplifies scripting and day-to-day use of the Classic API. When using ruby-jss, you'll never have to deal with XML or JSON, just retrieve things from your JSS, and possibly modify them and save your changes. When combined with
irb, the ruby interactive interpreter, you can do ad-hoc administration of your JSS with a live 'shell' to it. We'll also be able to give a sneak preview of the work we're doing to implement the new Jamf Pro API.
Chook is a simple http server that handles WebHook events from a JSS. Install Chook, and provide some 'handlers' then point your JSS webhooks at your chook server. While chook is written in ruby, no ruby-coding is needed to use it; you can write handlers in any language you want!
d3 has been doing 'patch-management' with Jamf Pro for almost 10 years. Based on ruby-jss, it's a command-line system providing Mac software deployment, updates and dev-ops integration. Our software developers and sysadmins use it daily for testing, releasing, and deploying home-built software as well as anything else we can package-up.
