Self Service portal for BYOD devices

Currently, the only way to install in-house apps and other policies to BYOD mobile devices is to push them to ALL BYOD devices. I'd like to see the self service portal also available to BYOD mobile devices. Most of our mobile devices in our JSS are actually BYOD devices but we enroll them as institutional devices still because of this limitation.

Our entire student body is BYOD. As we already have issues with students refusing to enroll due to privacy issues the personal enrollment was perfect for us, Until we discovered there was no self service. Major issue for us, to the extent of examining why we are using CASPER.

A few of our customers have licenses from Microsoft etc that allows them to install the Office suite on students and staff personal devices, OS X & iOS.

It would be great if either the app or web version could be available to all authenticated users.

At the moment we're having to re-invent the wheel with a website hosting some of the allowed packages.

How many positive votes does it take for something to actually happen????

First off 17 does not seem like an overwhelming majority. Second, have you been paying attention to the quality issues of late, personally I and I think if you read many others would much prefer a stable platform before new features.

funny It says 180 when I view the request. May not be a major to you but when one is lead to believe it does have the feature only to find its a half baked feature and its costing your organization money. Does raise a few questions, especially with the ones who who control the yearly CASPER payments.

@s.mainwaring The voting system here at JAMFNation increments in 10s, not 1s. So 180 is actually only 18 upvotes, not 180. As an aside, I've never quite understood why they use that system, since it can be a little misleading, especially if you're new and not familiar with how it works.

Anyway, there are FRs here that have hundreds of upvotes that have not been implemented yet. The voting only provides JAMF with a guide. They are not beholden to giving us features that get voted up highly. They have to make their own determinations about which features are possible to implement in a way that adds value and are stable (read: not hacks prone to break), in addition to other criteria, such as community popularity. Meaning, just because we want something doesn't mean we will get it. There are many factors to consider with these things.

None of this is to say that your need is not valid, but keep in mind the BYO feature in Casper is still relatively new. JAMF is likely going to add some value there, but it may take some time and patience. Until kind of recently, there was no actual BYO model for mobile devices in the product.

I think this is a super important feature, and one of the main reasons we aren't using Casper as our MDM / MAM solution for iOS devices. Interesting to see that this is an option in other mobile solutions.

This is a essentially a requirement for all BYOD device deployment we have planned to roll-out using LDAPS authentication.
Apparently if this is something JAMF has not provisioned for and feature doesn't have a release date then we may have to reconsider our options, and may choose a different MDM solution which is BYOD deployment ready.

When it comes to BYOD, this is a deal breaker. BYOD users won't want every app the organization has to be deployed automatically. A single, simple app like self service gives them the comfortable control they really want.
