Support for choices.xml during package installation

I would like to see support for using a choices.xml for package installation. This could be in the form of having to upload a choices.xml in Casper Admin, manually inputting the fields in the policy, or even have JSS/Casper Admin dynamically evaluate the .pkg file to determine what choices are possible. Then when defining the policy in JSS the administrator could select the proper choices.xml or choice selections to apply for a particular package.

This would be very useful for things like MS Office installs where many of us do not want the package to modify the dock as it does by default. There are of course many other packages where this would be useful.

It's been a year and I think this should get a bump for more visibility. For reference, Munki supports this.

I would love to see this as well. This would come in handy for installers like Office 2011, 2016, Cisco AnyConnect and a few others that don't come to mind at the moment.

The best way I can see this implemented would be perhaps through the JSS GUI when you add a package, there should be a drop down for that package to ask if you want to use installer choices xml or none at all.

Up voted 100%. I can imaging this in the Policy setting, that way you can have flexibility with different options based off the same packages. You could either upload the XML or have an editor that you could use and saves it to the database like scripts.

As far as Casper Admin, or even the web interface, if it could analyze the packages and just provide checkboxes in order to automate the format that would be helpful. But not as necessary as getting it working manually.

Hoping this makes it into JSS 10.

Yes, please. This would make it much easier to deploy Office 2016 for Mac.

This would help with Cisco AnyConnect too.

@cgolebio This is an excellent idea. Would be fairly simple for JAMF to craft an interface in the Packages section of a policy that enabled selection/deselection of choices

This would be a real nice enhancement to see for package installations. I know it didn't make it in v10. But here's hoping it's being worked on.

So today the Microsoft Office 2016 installer is adding OneDrive to the list of applications in the retail/SKU-less installer. The installer currently includes Excel, OneNote, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and the Microsoft AutoUpdate app. It's already been used as an example before here, but just wanted to mention that it's still a valid and popular app where admins could really make use of something like an installer choices xml.

This would be a great feature! Especially with Patch Management's more locked-down installation policies.
McAfee ENS is my current example. I don't need that web blocker or whatever it's called.
