Notification for apps that have been removed from the VPP store

Good morning,

Sorry if this is a duplicate, but it'd be awesome if Casper had a notification system to tell us if apps have been removed from the apple store and therefore are no longer deployable.

Thank you.

As of Jamf Pro 10.1.0, Apps removed from the App Store that are using VPP licenses will automatically be disabled. When viewing the App catalog record in Jamf Pro, a message bar will appear on top of the screen indicating the App was removed from the App Store. When viewing the list of Apps in Jamf Pro, those disabled due to being removed from the App Store will appear with a warning icon as well as greyed out text. Apps in a disabled state will no longer issue installation commands and will no longer assign VPP licenses. These Apps will also no longer appear available for installation via Self Service.

As of Jamf Pro 10.2.0, VPP Account Notifications can be configured to send an email digest with a Trigger of "Item removed from the App Store.” The Notification can be configured for a single or multiple VPP Accounts and can be sent to any desired email account. The digest of content falling into this state will be emailed once a day. This feature is available by navigating to Settings, Global Management, VPP Accounts and selecting the Notifications tab.

This would be awesome. We've dealt with this several times. Always eats up a lot of time before we figure out that it's gone from the app store.

Not just iOS : ) and I would bet that we have to help Jamf out with opening ticket with Apple to provide an API

Has anyone noticed if the warning disappears if an app becomes available again in the App Store?

I'm just wondering if I should leave these "warning" apps in my catalog - rather than delete them - in the event that their developer returns the app to the App Store.

@steelopus - there is a PI that makes apps appear to no longer be available in the App Store, when they in fact are. Removing them from your app catalog may be premature...

@thejenbot and @steelopus I have been experiencing this as well. I have a support case open with JAMF right now. I have 2 main apps that have dropped, I wiped an iPad only to find out that the app was not available in our catalog. However, looking in Apple School Manager I found that we still owned the app and that if I click on +new I can add the app back. So I am confused as to why it was removed.

In my case the warning is staying and the apps are not being returned to an "active" status.

I got an update on my case from engineering - supposedly the next iteration, 10.10, is supposed to do something for this...
What else it will break is anyone's guess.

@thejenbot Do you have any update on this ongoing Pi? Just wondering. Thanks!

That was PI-006563 and I do not see it listed any more as a known issue. I do see some apps in our catalog that are showing as no longer available, but when I search for them on App Annie it is consistently showing me that they have indeed been removed from the app store. So this is no longer an issue for me; if it still is for you, I would reach out to support. We're running the current version, 10.11.1-t1553545638.
