Add a "Download" button to packages on HTTP/S distribution points

Sometimes a "Download" button for software packages hosted in jamfcloud could be very helpful.
For example, if there's a package hosted where you don't have the sources any longer, but a newer version is needed. A simple "Download" button for one particular package would be enough to get the existing package and convert it to source via Composer.

Yes, there is an option to download the whole share via Jamf Admin, but this is not very handy. This option is already available for configuration profiles, so why not make it available for packages already hosted on HTTP distribution points?

This would definitely be handy to have. I currently rely on looking at policy logs at times to get the URL. It's less than ideal.

I agree this would be a nice button to have in the UI.
Just want to point out though that you could obtain the package by creating a temp policy scoped to your Mac or a test Mac to cache the package but not install it. It places the pkg/dmg into /Library/Application\ Support/JAMF/Waiting\ Room/ That's a root protected folder so you'll need to look inside it by opening a root shell, but it will be there for you to copy out to the Desktop or some other location.

Still, a simple "Download" button just like with Profiles and Scripts would be nice to see for Packages as well. Upvoted.

Jamf Admin could help, if you create a folder somewhere ie. on your desktop, drag and drop it into Jamf Admin you can then click the replicate button and the master distribution point (JCDS) will replicate to that folder. It will bring down any packages and scripts and put it into appropriately named folders

@Nic But wouldn't that replicate the entire packages repository down to your Mac? While that would certainly get you the package in question, it seems a little overkill if you have, say, 200+ packages in your repo totaling in the many gigabytes to pull them all down, just to get one package that might only be a few hundred MBs. Talk about inefficient.

I think the spirit of this request is that Jamf simply add a download button for Packages in the same way that there is for other items inside Jamf Pro. I get that they are treated differently because scripts and config profiles live in the database and packages physically live in a separate distribution point, but I have to believe Jamf could find a way to do this if they wanted to. After all, the Jamf binary certainly knows how to download the package to a Mac at policy run time.
