MAC Systems Engineer: 1015423

PURPOSE OF JOB

As a member of the Desktop Engineering team the candidate will be responsible for setting standards and contributing to the design, implementation, management and support of the corporate desktop and end point landscape for Apple desktop and laptop systems. This position will be located at our PNI office in Vancouver, Canada.

Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide technical expertise and deliverables for projects and services associated with all areas of the Mac desktop platform.
Familiar with OS X best practices, configurations, and JAMF’s Casper Suite.
Administer and maintain OS X and Linux Casper servers and desktop managed consoles.
Evaluate, test, define, and deploy OS X desktop and laptop configurations.
Demonstrated experience with UNIX or similar scripting, CLI administration, building system images, NetBooting, packaging applications, and deploying configurations in a highly distributed enterprise organization.
Design and implement solutions that align with corporate standards and meet business needs and requirements.
Provide 3rd level support for all OS X desktop related services.
Ability to work as part of a team or independently to deliver projects and services on time.
Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement.
Maintains all relevant documentation.
Must be able to work on multiple projects and requests simultaneously.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE / SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of 8 years of experience in Systems Engineer role
3+ years Unix scripting and command line administration
At least 1 year of experience administering Casper Server (JSS)
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Excellent verbal communication skills
Ability to work under minimal direction
Basic understanding of project management principals

RECOMMENDED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Apple Certified Technical Coordinator (ACTC) or Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP)
Experience with Apple’s Device Enrollment Program
Certified JSS Administrator (CJA) or Certified Casper Expert (CCE)
Understand basic networking (LAN/WLAN/WAN), as well as Active Directory or Bonjour
Experience supporting and troubleshooting file share protocols (AFP, SMB, and FTP) with OS X
Experience implementing scripted, automated and self-service offerings
Encryption technologies (FileVault v2)
Strategy and support of BYOD deployment
Self starter, ability to work independently
