Liberty Mutual IT Hosting Services is actively searching for a Principal Software/System Engineer. IT Hosting Services is a part of our Central IT Services organization that runs the infrastructure and foundational technology that is used across all business units and within Corporate Departments. Ideal candidates for this position will need to have a breadth of knowledge across several technical verticals, as well as extensive client facing or leadership related experience. The Engineer will be responsible for providing business solutions for complex managed services within a Hosting Services environment. In this position, you will be under general direction, be responsible for instructing, directing, and checking the work of other engineering personnel. You will formulate and define specifications for software and/or hardware programming applications.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and at least 8 years of experience in IT or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
•Senior level experience with Mac and Windows Operating Systems (Win7, Win10) Group Policy configurations.
•Experience implementing technical solutions to fulfill business objectives, including but not limited to vendor engagements, proof of concept reviews, configuration/development, and implementation.
•Requires highly developed communication and negotiation skills and thorough knowledge of business operations.
•Ability to manage and coordinate work activity with multiple groups.
•Experience working directly with vendors on hardware and software implementations, managing Service Level Agreements, and resolution of escalated issues.
•Experience evaluating new hardware and software. Includes ability to gather requirements, conduct proof of concept/pilot, and assess feasibility of enterprise deployment.
•Knowledge of Mac operating systems and Apple MacBook Pro hardware
Demonstrated success with designing, engineering and implementing Mac solutions in a large enterprise environment.
•In-depth knowledge of Mac OS and hardware, Jamf/Casper, bash scripting, application packaging, APNs, VPP, and DEP.
•Ability to collaborate with vendors and engineering teams to provide support, streamline processes, and enhance the overall end user experience.
•Knowledge of Windows OS, networking, Active Directory, firewall/proxy, and security best practices.
•Experience providing Tier 3 support for all Mac related issues, including but not limited to OS, hardware, Jamf configuration, enrollment, network connectivity, application errors, etc.
