We are looking for a Senior systems engineer to join our team, to play a vital role in architecting, supporting and evolving our clients' technical environments in some of the world’s most recognised broadcasting, production, publishing and advertising companies.

Job Description

As Senior Systems Engineer you will be an excellent communicator and problem solver who is confident and empathetic, with a varied experience working in high-end data-centric Post Production, VFX or entertainment environments.

You will take a senior role in the design, installation and operational support of our clients' technical infrastructure. You will work across a diverse range of solutions and as we see a shift from On Premise to Cloud based infrastructure we are looking for experienced engineers who has experience in cloud deployment and management.

You will be ready to learn, understand and advise in a role that will see you facing exciting challenges on a day to day basis. Compared to traditional enterprise environments, the nature of our clients' work means that they require much quicker access to specialist knowledge as a regular part of their support. We reflect this in our approach by people at all levels of seniority engaging in support.

An excellent grasp of communication is key for this role, with much of your daily commitment dedicated to working out creative and imaginative solutions with our cross-functional team of experts, and reassuring and empathizing with clients with urgent creative deadlines and dynamically changing needs.

Working with the wide range of skills and knowledge within the Support Partners team, you will help to define and refine our clients' technical and operational processes end-to-end. You will play a key part in optimizing existing processes to continuously improve production efficiency in all areas of their workflows, and working to offer proactive support to their environments and the users.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Operation and Support of our client’s technical infrastructures
  • Understanding and communicating issues, implementing fixes and collaborating with client and Support Partners team members
  • Monitoring and carrying out proactive maintenance checks of client systems and workflows
  • Raising, reviewing and approving environment change requests
  • Ensuring client documentation is kept up to date
  • Carrying out on-site development projects and tasks

Key personal skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, including ability to communicate technical information simply and help people make the best decisions for their unique and complicated situations;
  • Enjoy working in busy fast-changing production environments with tight deadlines, undertaking planned and emergency maintenance.
  • Able to operate remotely across multiple client environments and multi-task between short/long term developments and day to day operations.
  • An enthusiasm for collaboration and knowledge sharing across a global team;
  • An energetic and organized approach;
  • A desire to understand and empathize and advise creative and technical users;
  • The ability to calmly prioritize tasks and reassuringly manage expectations;

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Previous experience working in a high-end data-centric Post Production, VFX or entertainment environment is of benefit.
  • Experience of delivering and supporting media systems (transcoding, QC, storage) that are hosted and run within the cloud (AWS, Azure).
  • Working in environments using production systems, for example Adobe, Apple, Avid, MAMs, Playout and Newsroom systems.
  • Experience with JAMF and MAMs
  • Installing, maintaining and upgrading SAN, NAS, Fibre Channel, Network, Servers, VPCs/VNETs

Preferred Knowledge:

  • OSX, Linux, Windows
  • Storage Configuration and Support (NAS, SAN, Cloud)
  • Multiple file systems StorNext, GPFS, Btrfs, ZFS, LTFS
  • Active Directory and Identity / Access Management technologies
  • JAMF Pro deployment and monitoring
  • Signiant UDP delivery
  • IP Switches, Routers and Firewalls
  • Server Installation, Configuration and Maintenance
  • Ethernet / Fibre - Network Monitoring and Change Management
  • Virtual machine deployments
  • Scripting – e.g. Python, SQL, PHP, BASH, JQuery, Node.js
