Late to the game here, but as of 10.43, you can add them to the Managed Login Items payload.I just wanted to drop this in here in case someone arrived at this post as I did.

Same here. Incidentally, they also changed the download options to download only the Jamf Pro apps. Edit: I spoke too soon. Looks like I am having the same issue. Any one else?

10.36.1 here. Using 10.34.2 worked for me as well. Looks like the issue is still present.
