how to determine whether an app was installed by the AppStore or otherwise

I'm looking for a way to check if an app (in this case MS Office apps) has been installed via the legacy installer, or if it has been distributed by the Mac App Store. I don't see any difference in the Info.plist Does anybody know how to achieve that...
