"Boot to target drive after imaging" no longer working

Greetings, all! I'm running 9.96 and some of our technicians imaging our new MacBook Pro shipments--MacBookPro13.1, MacBookPro13.2 and MacBookPro13.3--have noticed that the “Boot to target drive after imaging” option is no longer working. As the imaging process nears completion and prepares to reboot, Casper Imaging (v9.96) closes and the computer does not reboot. This requires manually restarting the machine from the NBI environment. The NBI is running 9.96 as mentioned with macOS Sierra 10.12.2. Has anyone else noticed this behavior? If so, what have you done to remedy this? Ideally, I'd like to avoid just upgrading to 9.98 but if that's the only known solution then I'll spring for it.

I have absolutely seen this, it seemingly happens randomly and is persistent in 9.98 in my experience.
