The Art of Onboarding: Electric and Jamf

First days go more smoothly when when departments work together. The Electric platform helps bridge the gap between HR & IT by providing tools that assist with the on-boarding process.

First days are supposed to be exciting, but whether it’s a new school or a new job, the anticipation of a fresh adventure can quickly be followed by anxiety and nervousness. How will you get to work, which co-workers will you click with, and where the heck are the bathrooms?

Technology adds an extra layer to this. With a new computer, new email, and new applications to learn, it’s no wonder that a positive experience in on-boarding relates to an increase in employee satisfaction, engagement, and retention.

Crafting a positive on-boarding experience involves hiring managers, HR and IT. In an ideal world, these departments are working harmoniously from offer letter through going-away-party. In reality, this is not always the case. If you have ever overheard the phrase, “Oh, HR didn’t tell me we had any new hires this week,” you know exactly what I’m talking about. From a productivity standpoint, these forgotten new employees will have a longer ramp-up period because they aren’t able to fully engage in trainings. From a morale perspective, there’s nothing worse than slipping through the cracks.

If you are looking for a solution to bring departments together for the benefit of your new employees, Electric might be the solution you are looking for. The Electric Platform helps bridge the gap between HR & IT by providing tools that assist with the on-boarding process. HR can login to Electric and specify a new-hires start date, role, and location. Behind the scenes, Electric uses the Jamf API and other proprietary technology to make sure that the user is in the correct Slack groups, email lists, and has access to the SaaS applications required for their job. And of course, make sure that the ever-important welcome email goes out on time.

Electric is a Jamf Solution Partner as well as a Managed Service Provider. This means you can integrate the Electric platform into your existing Jamf instance, or you can let Electric do all the heavy lifting of Apple device management, infrastructure support, and IT project management.
