JAMF Nation User Conference 2014 - Playbook Automation of JSS Infrastructures

Henry Stamerjohann, Mac Consultant and Systems Engineer based in Hamburg, Germany, spoke today about how much time automation can save for IT admins.

Henry taught us how to enhance an existing JSS infrastructure by building a library of tasks, calling the JSS API, and combining everything into a single Playbook. He also showed us how to avoid manual configuration mistakes by using Ansible — a fast and secure configuration management tool.

Ansible is a configuration management and provisioning tool, and open-source based on Python (v2.7). It uses SSH to connect to remote servers and run configured tasks, based on a Push model.

After some in-depth walkthroughs, we heard some animated questions from this morning’s very knowledgeable audience.
