Bringing Migration Assistant to the enterprise via Self Service workflows

Not only has this helped us reduce the amount of time it takes to get a user up and running on a new Mac, but it has also made it possible to have users upgrade to a new Mac while working from anywhere.

Device refreshes are often a double-edged sword for the IT administrator. On one hand, we love when users have the most up-to-date hardware as it provides for better performance and reliability. On the other hand, migrating end-user data can be one of the most frustrating and time-consuming tasks, as built-in tools like Migration Assistant are not well-built for enterprise use and restoring from backup is often slow and unreliable.

We'll present how we solved this problem by providing our end users with a Self Service tool to migrate their data to a new Mac without the help of IT. Not only has this helped us reduce the amount of time it takes to get a user up and running on a new Mac, but it has also made it possible to have users upgrade to a new Mac while working from anywhere.
