Aviation's frontline work has moved off the desk and onto tablets, smartphones and ruggedised handhelds — across the gate, the galley, the ramp and the hangar. The estate is converging on a tight set of priorities: resilience, shared-device productivity and identity. But execution is lagging behind ambition.
In this IDC InfoBrief, sponsored by Jamf, IDC surveyed 150 frontline endpoint and security decision-makers across Asia/Pacific aviation to measure the gap between operational pressure and the capacity to manage it, spanning ANZ, Japan, South Korea, ASEAN and the rest of Asia/Pacific.
The findings show a sector under real strain:
- 85% of Asia/Pacific aviation organisations experienced a material endpoint incident in the past 12 months
- Only 17% can roll out a critical update across their full estate within 24 hours
- 35% rank third-party access a top security risk, with no matched investment to address it
