Simplify, secure, succeed: what’s new in Jamf education
Get a preview of our webinar and learn about how Jamf supports education IT professionals.

IT departments are important in schools. For decades, students have used IT-managed technology to write essays, access the internet and develop technology skills. Now, schools are implementing technology to aid learning, provide accessibility tools and directly impact learning design and spaces. Whatever the use case, IT admins have to work hard to set this tech up in a secure and sustainable way. When they implement technology to improve learning outcomes, they also need to understand how their end users learn and teach.
This is where purposeful deployment comes into play. Schools choose Apple devices for their functionality, accessibility features, mobility and creativity. With Jamf, schools can fully use the capabilities of these devices.
In our webinar, Simplify, Secure, Succeed: What’s New in Jamf Education, Mat Pullen, Senior Product Marketing Manager of Education at Jamf, presents how Jamf helps with a device deployment that improves learning.
Understanding your devices' purpose
Jamf helps schools manage and secure their devices so they can engage with and empower students, teachers and parents. This requires understanding the needs of school stakeholders, like:
- IT: device configuration and deployment, inventory management, app deployments and updates
- Curriculum leaders: devices, apps and features that meet curriculum needs
- Educators: devices that make teaching and learning easier, feedback channels and distraction-free learning
- Parents/guardians: the ability to manage devices at home and confidence in a school's device deployment
Technology implemented with these needs in mind goes a long way in improving the educational experience for all. Watch the webinar for more details.

How Jamf enhances the classroom
In the webinar, Pullen lists how the latest features in our Jamf for K-12 offering make life easier for schools. Let's summarize them here.
Management
Blueprints leverage declarative device management to simplify device management. They streamline managed software updates, enforce deadlines and are flexible enough to customize them for different groups or use cases. Blueprints can also control settings, like enabling or disabling features like Math Notes. More declarations are coming soon.
Security
Schools are common targets for cyber attacks. With threat protection, devices are protected from phishing, malware, cryptojacking and other threats. On-device content filtering blocks threats and any malicious or inappropriate content by using advanced machine learning, all without violating privacy.
Administrators can schedule content filters to meet students' needs. For example, if students use their devices at home, certain filters can be turned off to give students more freedom under their guardians' supervision.
The classroom experience
In the webinar, Pullen shows a demo of Class Assigner, a easy way for students to configure their devices. He also discusses the Jamf Teacher app, which makes it easy for teachers to:
- Configure what apps are allowed on student devices
- Create lesson templates
- Request additional apps from IT or download pre-approved apps
These features, among others, help teachers feel their devices are helpful and not a distraction.
There's more to learn!
Jamf offers many more features to empower schools. From managed software updates, automated enrollment, scheduled policies, content filtering and beyond, your school's tech deployment sets educators, IT admins and students up for success — while protecting sensitive data and preserving privacy.
