Latest deployment enables safe and secure internet usage for students accessing education in the digital landscape
MINNEAPOLIS – December 4, 2024 – Jamf (NASDAQ: JAMF), the standard in managing and securing Apple at work, today announced the successful deployment of Jamf Safe Internet onto the 40,000 iPads given to students across 74 schools in the city of Gelsenkirchen, Germany.
In 2022, the city of Gelsenkirchen decided to equip each of its students with iPads. Opting for a well-established solution in the market that would be optimal for administrators, the city deployed these iPads with Jamf School, a market leading mobile device management (MDM) software. Now, two years later, the program has further enlisted Jamf, deploying Jamf Safe Internet to empower the 40,000 students to learn curiously and confidently in the digital education landscape, free from the risks of unsafe content through the educational content-filtering solution.
“Supporting Education has always been core to Jamf’s mission since we started over 20 years ago,” said Suraj Mohandas, Vice President, Strategy at Jamf. “Affording students an opportunity to learn safely in today’s digital landscape, giving them a higher quality of tailored education, free from any harmful content or cyber threats, is critical. We are thankful for the collaboration with the city of Gelsenkirchen as it continues to enable growth and learning for students in the area.”
Designed to help schools and colleges protect students from harmful content on the internet, Jamf Safe Internet blocks unsafe content and malicious attacks such as malware or phishing without sacrificing the unmatched learning experience Apple devices provide. The tool leverages content filtering optimized for education and integrated with MDM for simple, powerful student and user protection.
Jamf’s ongoing relationship with the city of Gelsenkirchen affords all students an equal opportunity to learn in a way that is best suited to each student’s unique needs. With iPads seen as central pillars for the goal of equal educational opportunities, and students spending nearly twice as much time online than ever before, the need for digital safety is growing. Jamf Safe Internet will allow the students in the city of Gelsenkirchen to effectively navigate the internet without reserve or fear that they will be exposed to harmful content.
“As the digital education landscape continues to grow, the safety of our students becomes ever more important,” said Christian Spiegel, principal of an elementary school in Gelsenkirchen. “Deploying Jamf Safe Internet gives us peace of mind in knowing that our students will be learning in a focused educational environment, free from any content that could be deemed harmful or risky.”
Jamf and Gelsenkirchen both strongly believe that the internet should be a place where students can access educational material without fear of jeopardizing their personal safety or their school’s safety. The trust built by Jamf Safe Internet extends to parents as well. With Jamf Safe Internet, parents can rest easy knowing their children's data is safe, they are blocked from engaging with malicious content, and are equipped with the resources they need to learn. Jamf Safe Internet builds trust between students, their parents and technology through robust threat prevention and prioritization of students’ data privacy.
While students are surfing the web from around the globe, admins at educational institutions can remain confident that Jamf Safe Internet is keeping their networks, students and instructors safe, regardless of location.
Jamf’s dedication to education has earned the trust of 40,000 educational institutions worldwide. To learn more about Jamf’s work with the city of Gelsenkirchen, read the case study here.
