Jamf Pro prepared for same-day support, adds enterprise enhancements

With the announcement of Apple's new operating systems, Jamf is proud to bring you same-day support and much more.

With iOS 14, iPadOS 14, and tvOS 14 launching today, we are excited to announce that Jamf is ready to deliver another year of same-day support as well as new enhancements for IT admins and end users alike.

Same-day support for mobile operating systems

New operating systems are an exciting time for the whole organization. For end users, a new version of iOS might mean access to new Apple services or an improved user experience. And for IT admins new operating systems are a great way to empower their teams while keeping the organization secure.

Apple is making iOS 14, iPadOS 14 and tvOS 14 available today with macOS Big Sur to follow later this year. These new OSs will provide powerful new features and valuable enhancements to the workflows you already know and love. Admins can expect to see upgrades in three important areas: enterprise workflows, privacy and security, and education.

Improved enterprise workflows

It has been a year of incredible digital transformation in the enterprise and admins need every tool available to ensure their teams can remain productive. Beginning with configuring a new mobile device, admins can now choose to streamline the setup experience even further by skipping unneeded default steps on iOS and iPadOS devices. If certain setup panes - like SIM setup and Watch migration - are not helpful, simply bypass them to help the user be productive even faster.

Mobile device configuration profiles can now be applied at the user level on Shared iPad-enabled devices, ensuring that the certain payloads, like Web Clips, are available to each user as they log in. Per-Account VPN is also getting a boost as admins can now specify which apps and domains can use the Per-Account VPN connection.

Finally, admins can choose to let end users remove specific managed apps, granting a greater degree of control over devices while ensuring that critical business applications remain in place.

Enhanced privacy, better security

One of the best parts of new operating systems is getting to unwrap all the new MDM commands and restrictions that Apple makes available and this year is no different. Many changes are coming to the MDM framework and Jamf is ready with support so you can start using them in your environment right away.

A few highlights include: the ability to set a device’s default timezone, restrict Wi-Fi MAC address randomization in iOS and iPadOS, and the ability to set non-removable iOS and iPadOS managed apps.

Continued innovation in education

Finally, we are excited to take the wraps off of a new improvement for education institutions: Jamf Teacher is now available in Jamf Pro! We know that 2020 has been unlike anything schools have seen before and we want to make every resource available to help support your 2020-21 school year.

Jamf Teacher is a free mobile app that allows teachers to have partial management of a student’s school-issued devices. Previously only available for Jamf School, Jamf Pro customers can now begin leaning on Jamf Teacher to help manage the student learning experience whether they are engaged in in-person learning or distance learning powered by Apple technology.

Jamf also supports the latest updates to Apple Schoolwork and Apple Classroom.

An update for Jamf Pro customers is generally available now. Cloud customers can check their upgrade window on Jamf Nation. Other Jamf products are shipping releases alongside Apple’s new operating systems.
