Jamf enhances security for Android devices

Jamf Executive Threat Protection, an advanced detection and response security product for iOS, joins Jamf Protect and Jamf Connect in adding new cross-platform Android security functionality.

Mobile devices are increasingly used for work, regularly accessing some of the most sensitive data an organization possesses. Regardless of whether a mobile device is company-issued or personally-owned as part of a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) model, these endpoints are always connected to the internet everywhere they go and used for a wide variety of tasks during all hours of the day. This makes protecting mobile devices and securing their access to apps imperative for IT and security teams.

While iOS remains a dominant mobile platform in the enterprise, user choice means that employees are also using Android devices in the workplace. It can be a challenge for security teams to properly secure devices and their network connections across all mobile endpoints, and it is even more challenging to do this in a way that’s not disruptive to the end-user experience. It’s for this exact reason that Jamf security products offer support for Apple, Android and even Windows, giving users a seamless, secure and productive experience across all mobile device platforms.

Jamf Protect offers cross-platform Mobile Threat Defense (MTD) capabilities, such as phishing protection and content filtering. Regardless of the type of device a user chooses for work, IT and security teams can be confident that web threats are automatically blocked across the entire device, regardless of the app or browser being used.

Zero Trust Network Access with Jamf Connect ensures that users can securely access work resources from anywhere without worrying about public Wi-Fi safety or unauthorized connections, regardless of whether they’re on a Mac, iPhone, PC or Android device.

Jamf Executive Threat Protection now joins these products to offer advanced malware protection on Android devices. Born out of Jamf’s acquisition of security start-up ZecOps and introduced at JNUC 2022, Jamf Executive Threat Protection offers unrivaled visibility into the security of iOS devices. The advanced detection engine, powered by Jamf Threat Labs researchers, is able to identify risky apps, unique indicators of compromise (IOC) for known attacks and utilizes original tools and techniques to detect unknown attacks — all signals that suggest a user’s device may have been compromised.

Jamf Executive Threat Protection now supports the detection of known and unknown malicious apps and malware on Android devices, ensuring users don’t run or share sensitive information with apps that could put their data at risk.

The layered security approach that Jamf Connect, Jamf Protect and Jamf Executive Threat Protection offer assures that every type of user and use-case has the right-sized security to fit their needs.
